Visiting Puerto Galera – Oriental Mindoro, Philippines
Visiting Puerto Galera is a wonderful and exhilarating experience for any sea lover. It’s a paradise with every imaginable water activity available for your enjoyment – swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, parasailing, beach combing and the like. To get there, you need to fly to Manila, since Puerto Galera has no airport. The trip from Manila to Puerto Galera takes about 5-6 hours in total. Simply get transport from Manila to the city of Batangas. Batangas pier is where you catch a ferry boat that delivers you to Muelle Pier in Puerto Galera. Here’s some useful information that tells you how to make the trek:
For this trip I kept off the beaten track and stayed at Badladz Dive Resort in Poblacion. The ferry boat bringing you to Puerto Galera arrives at Muelle Pier, and after you get off the boat and onto the pier, you just walk straight ahead about 200 feet and turn left for another 200 feet. That takes you right to Badladz which is situated right on the water overlooking Puerto Galera Bay. The photo below shows you Muelle Pier. When you get off the ferry you walk under the canopy at the back of the photo, and then at the end of that yellow gate, you turn right and that takes you to Badladz. It takes less than 5 minutes from the time you disembark the ferry until you arrive at Badladz.
Badladz is a nice little economical place to stay, and it’s away from the raucous hustle and bustle of the nightlife area of Sabang. (Yet you can easily take a quick 15 minute trike ride from there to Sabang when you’re in a partying mood. Several trikes are always parked and waiting for customers right at the exit of Muelle Pier.) It’s quiet and mellow at Badladz with great views from the large and airy open patio there, and the views of the vistas from the upper level rooms are even more spectacular. You can order food and drinks while sitting on the patio which overlooks the bay, and there is also free WIFI there as well. Here are some photos taken at Badladz…..
